Despite its small population, St. Maries is renowned for its numerous recreational activities and 360-degree views. Located in Benewah County, just two hours from the border of Canada, St. Maries is on the cusp of two large rivers surrounded by dense forests and a multitude of lakes. Heyburn State Park provides some of the area's best campsites as well as the opportunity to birdwatch, hike, swim, boat and fish.
